30th September:

Lewis: A Yellow-browed Warbler is in Port of Ness. A Pectoral Sandpiper was at Loch Ordais today; also several flocks of Pink-footed Geese heading north-east as well as 24 Whooper Swans.

North Uist: The juvenile Cuckoo is still in Carinish; also a Redwing there and 140 Pink-footed Geese flew south there this morning. More Pink-footed Geese were on the move today with several small flocks heading south-east over the island plus at least 200+ to the west of Balranald heading south-east. 3 Ruff were also at Balranald. 20 Whooper Swans dropped in at Loch nam Feithean this morning wit another 9 heading south over Balranald. These were followed by a further 35 - 40 dropping into the bay just north of the visitor centre at Balranald. Single Lapland Buntings were at Knockintorran and on Berneray. 20 Whooper Swans were on Loch Bhrusda, Berneray. The Whiskered Tern was at Loch na Paisg, Baleshare this morning (not reported until after dark) although as yesterday it disappears for long periods.

South Uist: A Yellow-browed Warbler was in Bornish today along with a Brambling and 6 Redwings; also 344 Pink-footed Geese flew east there. A Ruff was at LA2. 3 Blackcaps and 10 Redwings were at Snishival.

29th September:

Lewis: 3 Yellow-browed Warblers, a Pied Flycatcher and a Redwing were in Port of Ness. 4 Yellow-browed Warblers were in South Dell.

St. Kilda: The female Snowy Owl was seen on Hirta again today where there was also a Whinchat present.

North Uist: An adult Whiskered Tern was on Baleshare this afternoon; also 5 Black-tailed Godwits present and 130+ Pink-footed Geese heading south and another Circa 200 heading east. 3 Blackcaps and 5 Redwings were at Langass Lodge; also 33 Pink-footed Geese heading east this morning. 2 Blackcaps were in Lochmaddy and around 120 Pink-footed Geese east there also this morning. 170 Pink-footed Geese flew south at Aird an Runair this morning; also around 15 Lapland Buntings were in the area. A Turtle Dove was seen at Middlequarter. Pink-footed Geese could be heard heading over Carinish at 20:05 this evening.

South Uist: A Buff-breasted Sandpiper and a Little Stint were at LA2, on the Range this morning. A Ring Ouzel was at Druidibeg; also 115 Pink-footed Geese heading south-east over there. A Yellow-browed Warbler was on South Glendale where around 100 Pink-footed Geese flew over. 5 Pintail were in the south-west corner of Loch Bee. 120+ Pink-footed Geese flew east over Bornish.

Barra: At least 600 Pink-footed Geese were seen heading east over the island today. 5 Scaup were off Ardmhor. A Turtle Dove and Spotted Flycatcher were at Brevig whilst a Pied Flycatcher and 2 Garden Warblers were at Creachan.

28th September:

Lewis: 4 Snow Buntings were at the Butt. 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, a Lesser Whitethroat and a Pied Flycatcher were at Port of Ness.

St. Kilda: The female Snowy Owl was seen on Hirta.

North Uist: The juvenile Cuckoo is still in Carinish this morning.

South Uist: Species at Ardvule today included 58 Black-tailed Godwits and a juv Common Tern in the north bay. 3 Pintail on Loch Ardvule while a juv Pomarine Skua and 291 Gannets flew south. 42 Pink-footed Geese flew east over Askernish around midday.

Barra: A Yellow-browed Warbler was in Northbay. A Turtle Dove was at Brevig and a Pied Flycatcher was at Creachan.

Insects: A few moths trapped at North Loch Eynort last night included a Red Sword-grass, Angle Shades, Red-line Quaker, 6 Grey Pine Carpet, 1 Autumn Green Carpet and a late Brimstone Moth.

27th September:

North Uist: The juvenile Cuckoo is still in Carinish today. 7 Lapland Buntings were on Balemore machair. A Buff-breasted Sandpiper and 3 Ruff were on Sollas machair. The 2 Snow Geese were seen on Loch nam Feithean, Balranald today.

South Uist: The male Subalpine Warbler is in Bornish; also a Yellow-browed Warbler there. A Turtle Dove was seen by the road in Stoneybridge today.

Barra: The Blyth's Reed Warbler was still at Bruernish today although elusive. A Ring Ouzel, Garden Warbler, Grey Wagtail and Great Tit were in Northbay. A Turtle Dove and Spotted Flycatcher were at Brevig. A Wood Warbler and Yellow-browed Warbler were in Castlebay. 2 Pied Flycatchers were at Creachan whilst another Pied Flycatcher and a Redwing were in Glen.

Marine Sightings: 4 Bottle-nosed Dolphins headed south off Ardvule this morning.

26th September:

Lewis: An adult Arctic Tern flew south over Tiumpan Head this morning.

Harris: A Pied Flycatcher was at Luskentyre. At least 180 Common Scoters were in the Sound of Taransay.

North Uist: The 2 Snow Geese were seen at Balranald again today. A Redstart was at Claddach Knockaline. The Rose-coloured Starling and juvenile Cuckoo are still in Carinish. 3 Lapland Buntings were seen at Balranald.

South Uist: The Subalpine Warbler was seen in Bornish; also a Garden Warbler there.

Barra: The Blyth's Reed Warbler was at Bruernish today. 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, a Spotted Flycatcher, 4 Pied Flycatchers and a Redwing were also seen on the island.

25th September:

Lewis: 2 Redwings were in the Castle Grounds this morning. A Pied Flycatcher was at Port of Ness. A juvenile Little Stint was on a track near Loch na Muilne, Ness today.

North Uist: 2 Snow Geese and 6 Lapland Buntings were seen at Balranald today. The Rose-coloured Starling and a Cuckoo was seen in Carinish. A Yellow Wagtail was seen at Aird an Runair.

South Uist: The Subalpine Warbler sp was seen again in Bornish this morning.

Barra: The Blyth's Reed Warbler was at Bruernish again today whilst a Wood Warbler, 5 Pied Flycatchers, A Redstart, Garden Warbler and 3 Yellow-browed Warblers were also seen on the island. The 2nd winter Iceland Gull was at Craigston.

Insects: A good mothing session last night in South Glendale where 347 moths/25 species were trapped which included 212 Small Wainscot, 1 Large Wainscot, 2 Red-line Quaker, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 16 Brindle Ochre, 1 Scarce Bordered Straw, 1 Convolvulus Hawk-moth, 1 Silver Y, 1 Treble-bar, 4 Eudonia angustea and an Acleris effractana. 45 moths/15 species were caught on Daliburgh machair which included 12 Lime-speck Pugs, 2 Large Wainscot, 1 Brindled Ochre and single Depressaria badiella, Agonopterix kaekeritziana and Agonopterix subpropinquella .

24th September:

Lewis: A few Redwings were in Lews Castle Grounds, Stornoway this evening. 3 Blackcaps and a Willow Warbler were at Eoropie.

St. Kilda: The female Snowy Owl and a Lapland Bunting were seen on Hirta.

North Uist: A Rose-coloured Starling was seen at Claddach Baleshare just after 11 am.

Benbecula: A juvenile Little Stint was in Stinky Bay.

South Uist: A Barred Warbler was reported from Askernish this afternoon.

Barra: A Blyth's Reed Warbler was found at Bruernish late this afternoon. Also 3 Yellow-browed Warblers, 3 Pied Flycatchers and a 2nd winter Iceland Gull on the island.

23rd September:

North Uist: The Wryneck was seen again late morning near Langass lodge; also a Lesser Whitethroat and male Blackcap here. A Rose-coloured Starling was seen in Carinish. A Wood Warbler was at Balranald.

South Uist: A Black Tern was seen in the south bay there this morning; also 2 Sandwich Terns, 6 Great Northern Divers, a Long-tailed Duck, 5 Razorbills and 30 Guillemots heading south off the point. A Turtle Dove was at Snishival.

Barra: A Marsh Harrier was on Vatersay before flying towards Tangasdale. 3 Pied Flycatchers and a Turtle Dove were on Barra today.

Insects: A Scarce Bordered Straw was trapped at Eochar last night.

22nd September:

Lewis: A Pied Flycatcher was at Port of Ness. A Snow Bunting was seen at Labost.

North Uist: 2 Snow Geese, at least 4 Lapland Buntings and an Arctic Tern were at Balranald this morning. 27 Black-tailed Godwits were at Kyles Paiible. A Wryneck was reported at Langass Lodge late morning. A Turtle Dove was in Sollas.

South Uist: The Long-billed Dowitcher was seen again at LA2 this morning. A Turtle Dove and Redstart were at Grogarry Lodge. Species heading south at Ardvule this morning were 557 Gannets, 1 Great Northern Diver (2 ads N), 4 Common Scoter, 68 Kittiwakes, 5 Arctic Terns and 2 Arctic Skuas. 50 Black-tailed Godwits were at Loch Bornish. The Subalpine Warbler sp. a Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and 2 Blackcaps were in Bornish. A Blackcap and Garden Warbler were seen at Snishival.

Barra: At least 5 Pied Flycatchers were seen around the island today; also a Wood Warbler and 2nd winter Iceland Gull in Castlebay.

Insects: 289 moth and 15 species were caught in Carinish last night including a Red-line Quaker and a Large Wainscot.

21st September:

Harris: A White-rumped Sandpiper was seen at Scarista Bheag today and a Swift was at Seilebost.

North Uist: A female Blackcap was in Carinish.

South Uist: A juvenile Turtle Dove was at Ardivachar this morning. 5 Black-tailed Godwits were at LA2. A Willow Warbler was at Howmore. The adult American Golden Plover was at Ormiclate.

Barra: The Turtle Dove was still at Brevig and the Pied Flycatcher was at Ardmhor.

20th September:

North Uist: At least 2 Buff-breasted Sandpipers, an American Golden Plover, 2 Ruff, 3 Black-tailed Godwits and a Lapland Bunting are on Baleshare. A Pomarine Skua was seen from Lochmaddy - Uig ferry this afternoon.

South Uist: The juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper was off Hebridean Jewellery. 6 Lapland Buntings were on Kilaulay machair. The Long-billed Dowitcher, a Spotted Redshank and a Ruff were at LA2 on the Range. The adult American Golden Plover, a Ruff and 3 Black-tailed Godwits were at Ormiclate. 60 Black-tailed Godwits were on Bornish machair.

Barra: A Turtle Dove, Lesser Whitethroat, Garden Warbler and Spotted Flycatcher were seen at Brevig / Creachan today. A Turtle Dove was seen at Cleat. A Pied Flycatcher was at Ardmhor.

Insects: 198 moths/21 species were caught in South Glendale last night including 3 Brindled Ochre, 1 Angle Shades, 46 Small Wainscot, 3 Lunar Underwing, 6 Red-line Quaker, 1 Mouse Moth, 1 Northern Deep-brown Dart, 1 Acleris effractana and 2 Eudonia angustea.

Marine Sightings: 2 Killer Whales and a Minke Whale were seen on the crossing from Uig - Lochmaddy this evening - approximately a 3rd of the way across.

19th September:

Lewis: A Scaup was on Loch Tiumpan.

North Uist: Buff-breasted Sandpipers were seen on Baleshare and at Sollas. A Rose-coloured Starling was seen in Carinish. 2 Snow Geese were seen at Balranald. An adult American Golden Plover was seen at Balemore.

South Uist: An adult American Golden Plover and 2 Lapland Buntings were seen at Ormiclate. The juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper was seen off Hebridean Jewellery whilst a probable Citrine Wagtail was heard in flight there but not seen. A Lapland Bunting flew west over Eochar. The Subalpine Warbler sp was seen in Bornish.

Barra: The Western Bonelli's Warbler was seen at Bolnabodach; also a Garden Warbler here. 2 Turtle Doves were in Castlebay; also the 2nd winter Iceland Gull in the bay there.

 

18th September:

Lewis: 20 Pink-footed Geese flew south at Tiumpan Head early afternoon.

North Uist: The adult American Golden Plover and a juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper were at Sollas today. The adult American Golden Plover was seen at Lag Gorm, Baleshare.

South Uist: The juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper and an adult White-rumped Sandpiper were seen off Hebridean Jewellery this morning. The adult American Golden Plover and 2 Lapland Buntings were at Ormiclate.

Barra: The Western Bonelli's Warbler was showing well at Bolnabodach today. A Turtle Dove was seen in Castlebay; also the 2nd winter Iceland Gull was there. A Grey Wagtail and Great Tit were at Creachan.

17th September:

Lewis: The White-rumped Sandpiper was still on the beach at Barvas this afternoon. Hundreds of Pink-footed Geese were seen arriving in off the sea this morning at the Butt.

North Uist: 2 Snow Geese were on Loch nam Feithean at Balranald before heading west and a Buff-breasted Sandpiper was seen in the south of the campsite; also 12 Black-tailed Godwits in the area. An adult American Golden Plover was at Sollas. An adult American Golden Plover was also on Baleshare. A Lapland Bunting and 10 Black-tailed Godwits were at Paiblesgarry.

South Uist: The juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper was seen off Hebridean Jewellery around mid-morning. A White-rumped Sandpiper was seen in flight at Kilaulay machair - heading towards North Bay; also 12 Lapland Buntings there. An adult American Golden Plover was at Ormiclate along with 2 Lapland Buntings, 40 Black-tailed Godwits and 3 Ruff. A Buff-breasted Sandpiper was seen at Kildonan before flying south this afternoon.

16th September:

Lewis: An adult White-rumped Sandpiper was seen at Barvas.

North Uist: A juvenile American Golden Plover was seen this evening at Balranald, 1 miles west of the visitor centre. 5 Lapland Buntings were also seen there today.

Benbecula: The juvenile Sabine's Gull was seen in Stinky Bay again this morning and this evening.

South Uist: A juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper was off Hebridean Jewellery this morning. A Pectoral Sandpiper was at LA2 on the Range.

Barra: The Western Bonelli's Warbler was seen at Bolnabodach again today. The 2nd winter Iceland Gull was in Castlebay.

 

15th September:

Lewis: 2 juvenile Sabine's Gulls, 16 Leach's Petrels, 331 Sooty Shearwaters, a Pomarine Skua, 5 Great Skuas, 12 Arctic Skuas, 17 Red-throated Divers, a Great Northern Diver, 20 Brent Geese, 6 Arctic Terns and a Common Scoter flew south-west off Labost (07:00 - 12:00). 165 Pink-footed Geese (in 2 flocks) also came in off the sea and headed inland at Labost. 2 Pomarine Skuas and 3 Sooty Shearwaters flew south past Mangersta (08:30 - 09:00). A juvenile Long-tailed Skua and 92 Sooty Shearwaters flew past the Butt (07:00 - 08:20); also a Lapland Bunting there.

North Uist: A Leach's Petrel was pursued by a juvenile Peregrine past the coastal car park at Balranald this morning before being caught over the dunes. 3 Lapland Buntings were at Balranald. A Lapland Bunting was seen at Borve, Berneray.

Benbecula: A juvenile Sabine's Gull was feeding in Stinky Bay this evening.

South Uist: 12 Red-throated Divers, 8 Great Northern Divers, 2 Arctic Terns and 73 Pale-bellied Brents flew south at Ardvule this morning. A juvenile Long-billed Dowitcher was on the Range late this afternoon; around the compound and LA2. 100 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Ruff were on Bornish - Ormiclate machair.

Barra: The Western Bonelli's Warbler was trapped and ringed around midday at Bolnabodach.

14th September:

Lewis: 3 Leach's Petrels, a Pomarine Skua, 5 Bonxies and 15 Arctic Skuas were seen off the Braighe this morning in 2.5 hours. The Whinchat was still in Port of Ness. 5 Lapland Buntings were at Eoropie. 25 Sooty Shearwaters and a Leach's Petrel flew south past Labost (17:00 - 17:50).

St. Kilda: The female Snowy Owl were on Hirta today

North Uist: A juvenile Sabine's Gull and a Leach's Petrel were seen on the Uig - Lochmaddy ferry this evening.

Benbecula: A juvenile Sabine's Gull flew west past Balivanich this evening.

South Uist: Birds moving south at Ardvule included 1678 Gannets, 2 Great Northern Divers, 2 Red-throated Diver, 1 Sooty Shearwater, 57 Manx Shearwaters, 27 Auks sp., 2 Razorbill, 4 Kittiwakes, 2 Arctic Terns, 3 Common Scoter, 1 Red-breasted Merganser and 1 Whimbrel.

13th September:

Lewis: A Lapland Bunting was at Gallan Head. 32 Sooty Shearwaters past Mangersta Head this morning in half an hour.

St. Kilda: The Snow Goose was on Hirta.

South Uist: The Subalpine Warbler species was seen again in Bornish although it is very elusive. A juvenile Sabine's Gull, 5 Leach's Petrels and a Sooty Shearwaters past Ardvule this morning; also 299 Gannets, 1 Black-throated Diver, 2 Great Northern Divers, 12 Red-throated Divers, 11 Fulmars, 21 Manx Shearwaters, 11 Kittiwakes, 3 Guillemots, 13 Razorbills and 13 Auk sp. 47 Black-tailed Godwits were on Bornish machair.

Barra: An immature Pomarine Skua flew south at Traigh Mhor around lunchtime. The Western Bonelli's Warbler was still at Bolnabodach this afternoon although elusive.

 

12th September:

Lewis: 75 pale-bellied Brent Geese were on Uig Sands this morning. A Pied Flycatcher and Whinchat were in Port of Ness. 12 Lapland Buntings were at Eoropaidh this morning. 4 Sooty Shearwaters and 17 Brent Geese flew south-west past Labost in a 3 hour seawatch. 12 Brent Geese were in Bragar Bay.

St. Kilda: The female Snowy Owl were on Hirta today along with the Snow Goose.

North Uist: At least 50 pale-bellied Brent Geese flew south over the Committee Road around midday; another 10 flew west at Griminish Pier and 54 flew south-west over Clettreval early afternoon.

South Uist: A southerly passage at Ardvule included 282 Pale-bellied Brent, 64 Gannets, 11 Red-throated Divers, 1 Great Northern Diver, 11 Manx Shearwaters, 4 Leach’s Petrels, 1 Storm Petrel, 3 Fulmars, 1 Guillemot, 13 Razorbills, 22 Auk sp., 20 Kittiwakes, 1 Great Skua and 4 Whimbrel. 7 Ruff and 6 Lapland Buntings were on Ormiclate machair.

Barra: A Western Bonelli's Warbler was at Bolnabodach this afternoon; also 2 Lapland Buntings flew over. The 2nd winter Iceland Gull was in Castlebay.

11th September:

Lewis: A juvenile Long-billed Dowitcher was seen at the Butt on pools just south of the lighthouse. 40 Sooty Shearwaters flew south past Labost this morning.

St. Kilda: A Hudsonian Whimbrel, 16 Lapland Buntings and the female Snowy Owl were on Hirta today; also a Shore Lark and Snow Goose were on the island.

North Uist: An adult White-rumped Sandpiper was seen on the shore at Balranald. A Dotterel was seen amongst Golden Plovers at Clachan Farm this afternoon.

Benbecula: A Pectoral Sandpiper was on Lionacleit machair opposite Borve guesthouse.

South Uist: Birds south at Ardvule this morning included 9 Red-throated Divers, 1112 Gannets, 76 Manx Shearwaters, 12 Sooty Shearwaters, 8 Fulmars, 2 Leach’s Petrels, 2 Arctic Terns, 24 Kittiwakes, 1 Arctic Skua, 3 Great Skuas, 51 Auk sp., 9 Razorbills, 15 Guillemots and 3 Common Scoter. The Subalpine Warbler species was seen again in Bornish. A juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper, adult Little Stint and juvenile Curlew Sandpiper were seen off Hebridean Jewellery. A Turtle Dove was seen on the machair at Ormiclate.

Barra: A 1st winter Sandwich Tern and 4 Arctic Terns were at Traigh Mhor. 50 pale-bellied Brent Geese flew south-east past Eoligarry. The 2nd winter Iceland Gull was at Castlebay. Whitethroats were at Brevig and Creachan.

10th September:

North Uist: 18 Black-tailed Godwits flew south at Baleshare this morning.

South Uist: An adult American Golden Plover was seen in stubble fields at Ormiclate this evening. The Pectoral Sandpiper was at LA2 on the Range and a Ruff was by Loch Bee. 5 Lapland Buntings were also seen at West Gerinish. 140 Black-tailed Godwits were at Ormiclate and 90 were at Kildonan.

Barra: 3 Sooty Shearwaters were seen off Brevig. The 2nd winter Iceland Gull was in Castlebay.

Insects: 105 moths/ 13 species were trapped in South Glendale last night including 1 Convolvulus Hawk-moth, 54 Ear Moths agg., 8 Autumnal Rustic, 6 Rosy Rustic, 8 Heath Rustic, 3 Lunar Underwing, 1 Flame Shoulder, 1 Chevron and 1 Small Autumnal Moth.

Marine Sightings: 2 Killer Whales were reported from Castlebay, Barra this morning.

9th September:

St. Kilda: A Hudsonian Whimbrel, 18 Lapland Buntings and the female Snowy Owl were on Hirta today.

Lewis: 30 Sooty Shearwaters and 220 Manx Shearwaters flew south off Mangersta during an hour long watch in the early afternoon.

North Uist: A juvenile Sedge Warbler was in Carinish today.

South Uist: The Subalpine Warbler species was seen briefly again in Bornish. 60 Black-tailed Godwits and a Ruff were by Loch Bornish. The Pectoral Sandpiper was at LA2, on the Range. 93 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Ruff were at Kildonan. A Pied Flycatcher was seen in Askernish.

Barra: An adult Glaucous Gull and a 2nd winter Iceland Gull were reported from Castlebay today.

 

8th September:

Lewis: 500 Sooty Shearwaters and 150 Manx Shearwaters were feeding off the Butt this morning along with masses of Gannets, several Bonxies, an Arctic Skua and a juvenile Pomarine Skua. A juvenile Little Gull was at Steinish this afternoon. 41 Black-tailed Godwits and a Ruff were opposite Park End Industrial Estate, Stornoway.

South Uist: A Lapland Bunting was seen on the track out towards Ardvule this afternoon.

7th September:

St. Kilda: A Hudsonian Whimbrel and 50 Lapland Buntings were seen on Hirta today; the female Snowy Owl was also present.

South Uist: A Subalpine Warbler was seen in Bornish today. A Pectoral Sandpiper and 20 Black-tailed Godwits were at LA3 on the Range. 19 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Ruff were at Loch Bornish.

Marine Sightings: A pod of 8 Orcas (2 males) were seen a few miles off Tabet from the Uig ferry this morning. A Minke Whale, 15 Common Dolphins and 20 Harbour Porpoise were seen from the Ullapool - Stornoway ferry.

Insects: 194 moths/16 species trapped at South Glendale last night which included 6 Neglected Rustic, 4 Lunar Underwing, 2 Small Autumnal Moths a Hedge Rustic and Acleris variegana. At North Loch Eynort 53 moths/21 species included 14 Grey Pine Carpet, 2 Red-green Carpet, Light Emerald, 1 Sallow, 2 Pink-barred Sallow, 1 Barred Chestnut, Acleris rhombana and Eudonia truncicolella.

6th September:

South Uist: Birds south at Ardvule this morning included 45 Gannets, 1 Great Skua, 1 Arctic Skua, 3 Arctic Terns and 2 Leach’s Petrels. The White-rumped Sandpiper was still present in the south bay at Ardvule.

5th September:

Lewis: A Grey Phalarope, 16 Sooty Shearwaters, 6 Great Skuas and 2 Arctic Skuas flew south-west past Labost early afternoon. 21 Black-throated Divers were off the Braighe.

Harris: A juvenile Little Stint was seen at Luskentyre.

South Uist: A few birds south today at Ardvule included 2 Great Northern Divers, 5 Red-throated Divers, 1 Leach’s Petrel and 3 Arctic Skuas while an adult White-rumped Sandpiper was in the south bay.

4th September:

Lewis: 38 Pink-footed Geese were seen heading south-east over Traigh Mhor, Tolsta today.

North Uist: The Rose-coloured Starling is still at Locheport.

South Uist: 90 Black-tailed Godwits were at Kildonan. 68 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Ruff were at Bornish.

Barra: A Sooty Shearwater was seen off Cleat and a Pink-footed Goose came in off the sea at Brevig this evening.

 

3rd September:

South Uist: A southerly passage at Atdvule this morning included 29 Gannets, 1 Great Northern Diver, 11 Red-throated Divers, 2 Manx Shearwaters, 4 Storm Petrels, 6 Common Scoter, 44 Kittiwakes, 6 Arctic Terns, 4 Razorbills and a Snipe in off the sea. The Pectoral Sandpiper is still in the south bay at Ardvule. 6 Ruff and a Black-tailed Godwit were by Loch Bornish. 160 Black-tailed Godwits were at Kildonan.

2nd September:

South Uist: A juvenile Curlew Sandpiper and Pectoral Sandpiper were seen at Ardvule today; also a Grey Phalarope heading south there this morning along with 1664 Gannets, 21 Fulmars, 94 Manx Shearwaters, 5 Storm Petrels, 3 Great Northern Divers, 5 Red-throated Divers (+2 N), 10 Razorbills, 1 Black Guillemot), 51 Kittiwakes, 10 Arctic Terns, 2 Common Tern snd a Great Skua.

Lewis: 5 Sooty Shearwaters flew south-west off Labost this morning. 40 Black-tailed Godwits were at Steinish in the afternoon.

South Uist: The Pectoral Sandpiper was at Loch Bornish this evening along with 2 Ruff and 5 Black-tailed Godwits. The Pectoral Sandpiper, 5 Ruff and a Whimbrel were at LA2 on the Range. A juvenile Curlew Sandpiper was at Ardivachar.
